What is it?
WHAT IS IT AND WHAT DO WE LEARN WITH THIS ACTIVITY?
On this visit to the Royal Academy of Medicine of Catalonia the students will know the history the building through its symbols. We will learn the concept of symbol and surgery knowing some symbols related to medicine. Also, we will review some organs of the human body and some diseases that affect us and, finally, what good habits we can have to maintain good health. The activity it is divided into two sections: on one hand we have the guided tour of the building and on the other hand we have a practical part with educative games. In this activity we will work specially the abstraction and the creativity.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
All students attending this activity must carry a notebook and pencil or pen. Preferably, a hardcover notebook to be able to draw without a table.
This activity is recommended to students from 12 to 15 years old.
We strongly recommend to teachers to teach in class the organs of the human body before this activity: especially digestive and respiratory system.
METHODOLOGY:
We use the methodology of Visual Thinking: we will use the building's symbolic images for explain the history and practice abstract thought. We will also exercise creativity and we will let each student to explore their own identity through the creation of their own symbol. In the practical section, we have created a variety of games that allows them to interact with each other in groups. The games mainly use the deductive method and seek to encourage teamwork.
DURATION:
1 hour and 30 minutes.
PRICE AND LANGUAGE:
5€ per student with a minimum of 30 students.
The tour can be explained in English, Catalan or Spanish, but the written texts of the games are only in Catalan and Spanish.

To make changes to the reservation, you must inform with more than 72h in advance of the day that the activity will be done, either to change the day or modify the menu or cancel it.
For groups of 10 people or more, they must notify more than 5 days in advance.
The cancellation of the reservation with refund of the amount paid, can be made within the maximum period of 30 days from the date of acquisition and will incur a cost of € 5. If you cancel after 30 days you will lose the entire amount. The changes and cancellations of the reservation can not be made via e-mail, you must call 93 170 17 97. Sternalia agrees to return the amount within a maximum period of 10 calendar days from the moment the person has facilitated Your account number for the return.
The organization reserves the right to cancel the activity for not achieving the minimum capacity required, for occasional maintenance of the telescope and / or if the access or exit of the venue is affected, the participants will be notified as soon as possible when the procedure begins of cancellation.
